Festivalgoers heading to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival from the Los Angeles area this weekend will leave behind drizzly, foggy weather and mild temperatures for sunshine and temperatures in the low-90s at the Empire Polo Club in Indio.

Temperatures in the Coachella Valley are expected to heat up over the weekend, with highs in the low-90s, according to Samantha Connolly, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service.

Friday has a forecasted high of around 81 degrees, Saturday has a high near 86 degrees, and Sunday will be the warmest day, with a high near 91 degrees. Evening low temperatures over the weekend will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.

Last year's Weekend 1 temperatures were similar, with forecasted highs in the high 80s on Friday and Saturday followed by temperatures in the low 90s on Sunday.

This weekend's temperatures are in line with normal April temperatures in the region, where the normal maximum April temperature is 86.7 degrees and the normal minimum temperature is 59.1 degrees.

The hottest day ever recorded at Coachella was 107 degrees on April 21, 2012, which also set a record high temperature for that date.

While it looks like this year's festivalgoers will be spared from triple-digit temperatures over the festival's first weekend, attendees are still encouraged to stay hydrated and find shade.
