The nine-hour-plus concert will be hosted by actor and comedian Celeste Barber, who has already raised more than A$50 million ($35 million) towards bushfire relief via her own online appeal.
Tickets are on sale at Ticketek and donations can be made at FireFightAustralia.com.
The Sydney spectacular was announced last week to help combat devastating bushfires that have taken dozens of lives, destroyed thousands of homes and razed more than 12 million hectares, an area roughly the size of the states of Vermont and New Hampshire, combined.
The wider music industry has moved quickly to raise money for organizations battling the calamity and those helping to rebuild and repair.
Benefit concerts have popped up across the country, and a long line of artists have donated sums to good causes including Elton John, Metallica, Nick Cave, Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, Pink and Flume.
Live Nation Entertainment’s Australian businesses are also helping out. On Monday, LN’s domestic affiliate and local companies (Live Nation, Secret Sounds, Ticketmaster and Moshtix) pledged a minimum of A$500,000 ($345,000) to support bushfire relief efforts.
“Our hearts and thoughts are with those affected by the widespread devastation across the country,” reads a social media post.
Funds pledged and raised by LN will be distributed between bushfire recovery and wildlife related organizations, and the concerts company will work with artists in the weeks and months ahead to raise funds through donations, charity upsells and the auction of experiences.
Both Ticketmaster and Moshtix will donate ticket handling fees for tickets to approved bushfire related fundraising gigs andevents.
“Our thoughts are with Australia,” wrote Live Nation Entertainment president and CEO Michael Rapino in an Instagram post.
