Argentine songwriter and producer Roberto Livi, who wrote hits for the likes of Roberto Carlos, José José, Julio Iglesias, Ana Gabriel, Vicki Carr, Christian Castro and Lisette Melendez, among many others, has died at his home in Colorado. He was 76 years old. The cause of death was not revealed.
Livi, a gregarious, witty man who liked to hold court in the recording studio, was known for his romantic sound and soaring melodies.
An accomplished singer, Livi launched his career as a vocalist before gaining fame as a songwriter and producer, and penning over 700 songs. They include major hits like “40 y 20” and “La carretera.” As a producer, Livi was equally coveted and his hit albums include Julio Iglesias’ Tango and José Luis Rodríguez Sabor a México.
At the time of his death, Livi was actively touring and preparing to go to Brazil on a promotional tour.
